Op Art, short for Optical Art, was movement of abstract art that utilized optical illusions and geometrical designs to create works that tricked the eye. The movement was somewhat short-lived and was derived partly from perceptual psychology textbooks and known geometrical design tricks. Nevertheless, Op Art was well suited to the mid-Sixties and its works and artistic contributions are still embraced today.
